With every other family member flaunting an iPod or some funky gadget, it’s no surprise kids want toys that are fun, advanced and imitate what the adults have.
“High-tech toys have been on the market for many years,” says Leigh Pokier, executive director of the Canadian Toy Testing Council, which rates toys based on design, function, durability and play value. “Years ago, some made it and some didn’t and you wondered why. “This year, many of the top toys we tested reflect the top technology and many of the fundamental characteristics of a good toy”

“Board games are stifi popular, but they have implanted some of the technology there, too,” Ms. Poirier says. Up to six players use the (included) remote controls to answer multimedia questions displayed oh a TV screen. Game Wave handles the scoring and randomly picks the questions.
