Why is there an "invalid media" message on the screen?

This message means one of three things:

The disc is not supported by the Game Wave™, e.g. a music CD or a disc from another video game system.
The DVD you are attempting to play is not supported in this region.For example, a DVD bought in Europe may be coded just for the Europeanregion and will not work in a North American DVD player.
The disc you are attempting to play is dirty or scratched. If it is dirty, follow these steps:

Slightly dampen a soft cotton cloth using water. Clean the disc bywiping gently from the centre to the outer edge. Repeat the processseveral times until the entire disc is clean. Do not under anycircumstance use paper towels or clean the disc in a circular motion.
Dry the disc using a dry portion of the cloth and wiping in thesame fashion as when cleaning the disc. Once all the water is gone, letthe disc sit for a full five minutes before inserting it into the GameWave™.
